Databeyond Waste Textile Sorting Solution: Precision Sorting Empowers High-Value Regeneration

Databeyond Waste Textile Sorting Solution: Precision Sorting Empowers High-Value Regeneration

May 18, 2026

Globally, more than 92 million tons of post-consumer textiles are generated each year, with China alone exceeding 20 million tons – yet the recycling and reuse rate remains below 1%. Even the most recyclable categories, such as pure cotton and pure polyester garments, are often mixed and processed together with low-value items like blended fabrics, coated textiles, and heavily dyed pieces, simply because traditional sorting methods cannot accurately identify their composition and purity. As a result, over 90% of pure-fiber garments that could have been directly channeled into high-quality regeneration end up being shredded, downgraded, or even landfilled and incinerated.

With the advancement of “Zero-Waste City” initiatives and the release of China’s Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Circular Utilization of Waste Textiles, which sets a target of 25% circular utilization rate by 2025, textile recycling has shifted from an “option” to an “imperative”.

Yet, a consensus has long been established in the industry: the real bottleneck is not collection, but sorting. Without the ability to precisely identify material type, color, and contaminants, every downstream recycling pathway becomes inefficient and unmanageable. No sorting means waste; poor sorting means loss of control. Precision sorting is the only pathway to high-value textile recycling.

With a complete-process solution of “precise whole-garment diversion plus deep fragment purification,” Databeyond provides the answer – from baled feedstock to high-purity output.

Databeyond Textile Sorting Solution Unlocks the High-Value Chain

Traditional approaches only coarsely classify waste textiles before shredding everything together. As a result, the most valuable second-hand garments and high-purity mono-material streams are downgraded before their full value can be realized. Databeyond employs a self-developed, innovative process of “whole-garment precise diversion first, then deep purification of shredded fragments,” enabling fully automated treatment.

1.FASTSORT™ TEXTILE Waste Textile Optical Sorter

The FASTSORT™ TEXTILE Waste Textile Optical Sorter integrates depacking, material spreading, and sorting into one system. Equipped with a 256-band hyperspectral sensor and an AI-powered vision system, it performs multi-dimensional sorting while the garments are still intact:

Material identification: Precisely distinguishes the composition percentages of pure cotton, polyester, nylon, spandex, wool, etc., supporting customized sorting based on set thresholds, such as polyester content ≥90% or cotton content ≥80%.

Color and style recognition: Accurately captures the garment’s color and structural features, such as collar and sleeve types.

Automatic contaminant rejection: Sorts out damaged, soiled garments, as well as those containing leather or coatings.

Through whole-garment optical sorting, second-hand reusable garments and high-purity mono-material streams are precisely diverted upfront, maximizing the preservation of material value.

2. FASTSORT™ TEXTILE-FLAKE Fabric Scrap Optical Sorter

After whole-garment sorting, the remaining waste textiles undergo Databeyond self-developed two-stage shredding and intelligent material distribution process, which thoroughly resolves the traditional pain points of uneven output and material build-up, creating ideal conditions for subsequent sorting. Once the shredded fragments enter the purification stage, the FASTSORT™ TEXTILE-FLAKE Fabric Scrap Optical Sorters work in tandem through forward sorting and reverse sorting:

Forward sorter: Accurately separates target materials such as pure polyester and pure cotton from the mixed fabric scraps.

Reverse sorter: Deeply purifies the forward-sorted material by removing all kinds of non-textile foreign objects, such as buttons, zippers, metals, and plastics.

With this dual-machine synergy, originally low-value blended fabrics are directly upgraded into high-purity mono-materials, reliably meeting the quality requirements of downstream recycling enterprises. The ultimate goal of waste textile recovery is circular regeneration. Databeyond whole-garment and fabric scrap sorting solutions provide a high-purity, stable feedstock guarantee for both mechanical and chemical recycling.

Databeyond is committed to making high-end intelligent sorting technology accessible and widely applied, so that more recycling enterprises can “afford it and use it well.” Driven by technological innovation, we are advancing the renewable resources industry toward intelligence, ensuring every piece of waste returns to its rightful value, and building a green, circular, and sustainable future.
